Missed deadline

I'd really like to say I tried to get those 4 blog posts up by the end of yesterday, but I didn't try that hard at all. I had the day all planned out to sit on our new chair-and-a-half/mini-sofa with a bottle of red at my side just writing my little heart out. Instead I ran, went to the beach, did some shopping, and spent the second half of the day drinking margaritas.

Oh, did I say ran?

Yes, yes I did. Despite my public announcement at the beginning of April to my devout readers that I was going to train regularly for a half-marathon from that post onward, I didn't. Apparently no level of humiliation from public failure is enough to keep me motivated and on track towards that one goal. But you know what does? Paying 75 bones for a race when your credit card is severely in the red. I pulled the trigger and registered for my first foot-race over 5k. Unfortunately, I was not selected in the lottery to participate in the Nike Women's marathon/half-marathon, but my work counterpart convinced me that the San Jose Rock 'n' Roll half on October 5th will be just as "fun," if not more so. Even though my most recent blog post's goals have yet to be achieved, at least I've committed to an older written declaration of participating in 13.1 miler. Now, I just need to train, show up and run, and finish!

A fast 22 days

I had mentioned previously that I was going to make a concerted effort to post more often. "More often" was defined as "more than quarterly," but really in my head it was at least 2-4 times a month. As I go about my days, blog posts are regularly drafted in my head, but they never make it to the interweb. They usually involve either:

1) Sean's antics - he's an easy target, but I try to be the loving wife and not embarrass him too often
2) my forming of an opinion about the news/life/anything (a rare thing for me to share)
3) the goings-on of my life - probably what I post most often about but since I've had nothing "going-on" this might explain the blog drought; or
4) the context of strange situations that I encounter in this funky city that I live in.

I will attempt to make up for lost blogging time and give myself a writing assignment, which is to post about each of the above topics during this lovely 3-day break from work I am currently enjoying.
